Project summary
SCIAF, the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, needed a Shopify store capable of running a complex annual fundraising campaign, giving supporters multiple ways to buy and share Real Gifts that fund life-changing work in the world’s poorest communities.
What began with the integration of Gift Aid capture and top-up donations directly into the checkout flow has grown year on year into a fully featured charitable giving platform. A new campaign identity gave supporters three distinct ways to purchase: a physical card sent by post, a personalised e-card delivered by email, or a downloadable digital gift certificate. Each option offered bespoke card designs tied to individual gifts, with the flexibility to switch options on or off per product as the gift range evolved.
Each subsequent year has brought a new campaign cycle and a new round of development. 2024 saw the store updated ahead of the Christmas campaign with expanded e-card previews, new card designs across the full gift range, Mandrill email integration for automated e-card delivery, and a series of checkout improvements to tighten the purchase journey. 2025 introduced new e-cards for additional Real Gifts and Sacrament Cards, keeping the store fresh and the product range growing.
The result is a store that raises significant funds year on year, backed by a development partnership that understands the campaign, the audience, and the cause.
