Project summary
Better Together Community is a community mobilisation initiative brought together by Sevenoaks District Council and the Sevenoaks District Voluntary Sector Forum, designed to empower residents to discover events, promote activities, find volunteer opportunities, and launch community projects across the Sevenoaks District.
The project began with online brand adaption, developing an online identity that needed to feel warm, approachable, and civic without looking corporate or bureaucratic. That brand was then translated into a full WordPress build, carrying the visual language consistently across every page and touchpoint.
The most technically demanding aspect of the project is the deep integration with Time to Spare, a specialist volunteer mapping SaaS platform. Rather than presenting as a separate tool, the platform’s interactive map, community directory, toolkit resources, and event registration are woven seamlessly into the site’s navigation and user journeys, giving residents a single coherent experience regardless of which system is serving the content underneath. Volunteers can find opportunities on the map, explore the directory, register events, and access community-building toolkits without ever feeling they have left the Better Together environment.
The result is a genuinely useful community hub that bridges local government, the voluntary sector, and everyday residents in one joined-up digital home.
