Project summary

Projects Delivering Hope is a Christian charity founded in 2018 by three friends in Wiltshire to deliver “tailor made aid to the South Sudanese”. With their main partner, the Diocese of Kajo-Keji, they fund short, costed projects that help families support themselves over the long term: tarpaulins for shelter, bread ovens for small businesses, and training and microfinance for start-ups through Five Talents.

As a small, trustee-led charity, PDH needed everything required to be found and supported online, and someone to look after it. I delivered the whole package: a brand created from scratch, a new WordPress website, online giving through Stewardship, and the hosting, email and ongoing support that keep it all running. The trustees can then spend their time on the projects rather than the technology.

A brand from scratch

PDH started with a name and a mission but no visual identity. I designed the logo, colour palette and typography so the charity looks established and trustworthy to the churches, supporters and donors it depends on. The identity is consistent across the website, social media and print. More on branding for charities.

A WordPress website the trustees can run

The website tells PDH’s story and shows where the money goes. Visitors can read who the charity is, follow news and project updates from South Sudan, and find events and PDH trips. The site also has pages for the Friends of Kajo-Keji and for partner churches and faith communities. Everything is built in WordPress so the trustees can post updates themselves, without paying a developer for every change. More on web design for charities.

Online giving through Stewardship

Many of PDH’s supporters give through their churches, so I set up giving through Stewardship, the Christian giving platform. Donate buttons throughout the site lead straight to PDH’s Stewardship giving page, which handles payments and Gift Aid. The charity can take donations online safely without running its own payment system. A Give as you Live page adds a way to raise funds while shopping online. More on fundraising platform integrations.

Hosting, email and support

I host the website and keep WordPress up to date, secure and backed up. I also set up email on the charity’s own domain, so trustees write to supporters and partners from projectsdeliveringhope.org.uk addresses rather than personal accounts. When PDH needs a change or help, they have one person to ask for the site, the email and the brand.

  • Brand: logo, colour palette and typography
  • Website: custom WordPress build, editable in-house
  • Fundraising: Stewardship giving and Give as you Live
  • Ongoing: hosting, updates, email hosting and setup, and support
