Project summary
Hope and Homes for Children had a powerful story to tell about 25 years of protecting children around the world. The challenge was taking that story off the printed page and turning it into a digital experience that felt personal, dynamic, and genuinely moving.
The centrepiece of the project is a personalisation engine that makes every visit unique. Each supporter receives a link containing a unique identifier that silently pulls their name and giving history from a JSON data layer, greeting them by name and reflecting back the real-world difference their support has made. It is the same warmth as a personalised letter, delivered at the scale of a digital campaign. Supporters without a personal link land on a seamlessly equivalent generic version, so no one misses out on the experience.
From there, the page takes the reader on a journey. Rather than presenting a wall of information, content reveals itself as the reader scrolls, with panels, statistics, pull quotes, imagery, and video animating into view at carefully timed intervals. The combination of media keeps momentum high and gives the report a pace that print simply cannot match.
Built as a standalone page free from the limitations of the existing WordPress setup, the code was written to be clean, well-commented, and straightforward to update annually without rebuilding from scratch.
A competitive commission, delivered on time, and built to keep working long after launch.
